Hi Caryn,

The fabric for the top and borders is regular 100% cotton quilt fabric. I think two layers of fleece would be a bit too thick and stretchy to make for enjoyable sewing. The woven cotton fabric gives some stability to the stretchy fleece. I also like cotton quilt fabric for my quilt tops because the colors and prints are so wonderful. There&#039;s much more variety than I have found in fleece. So I only use fleece for backings.]]></description>
