Spring is really here in Northern California. I heard from a reader in western Australia the other day, where they are having burning heat and wildfires. Wherever we all are, I hope we can all get in some quilting this week.

Just wanted to say "Hi" and to say I too am tired of this winter. Can't wait till spring. My mother quilted, all by hand. She mostly did the basic nine patch and bow tie. I never knew the other names of nine patch. I was the 1 who did the tracing out the squares and the cutting. We used a piece of cardboard(cereal box) to use as templates. What a lot of work. Tks for the info and hang in there(weather).

Yes, I use a program called Electric Quilt 8 to lay out blocks like these and design quilts. You can use it to see exactly how a quilt will look before you sew a single stitch. I don't recommend EQ for casual users, though. It's a very complicated, hard-to-use program and it takes a long time to learn its ins and outs. I consider myself still a beginner after using it for years. Unfortunately, I've never found any other program that does what it can do, so I can't recommend anything easier.
