About New Quilters

I started a blog called Quilter’s Diary in 2011 under the pen name Felicity Walker, and created the New Quilters blog and email newsletter in 2016, when I decided to focus on quilters who are just getting started making their first quilts.

(If you are a former Quilter’s Diary reader, you will still be able to find all the articles and tutorials from the old blog right here on NewQuilters.com.)

Blogging led to writing books for new quilters, and now to my latest venture, creating quilt patterns and other quilt-related products which I sell in my Etsy shop. All these developments came as a great surprise to me, because I have always been a writer by profession and never thought of myself as a very visual person. But we never know what we’re able to do until we try!

After more than twenty years at the sewing machine, I can’t call myself a quilting beginner, but I like to think that I still have the beginner’s mindset. I like my quilts to be fast and easy to make, and to look like they took a lot more work than I actually put in. I quilt for fun and to make beautiful things to give to people I care about.

The first two books I published as Felicity Walker have been republished in an expanded and much more beautiful form under my own name by Familius Publishing. You can buy them from your favorite bookstore through this site, or at my Etsy shop.

A Few of My Quilts

I’d Love to Hear From You!

I’m lucky enough to have readers from all around the world, and I’m even luckier that quite a few of my readers contact me and ask questions or offer moral support during hard times in my personal life. If you have any thoughts to share about quilting or just about anything else except politics, please contact me by clicking the “Contact Us” link at the bottom of the page.

If you haven’t signed up for my email newsletter, please do. I’ll send you a free rag pillow pattern just for signing up!
