Wide. So I cut my white rail piece 31/2 x 61/2 is that ok or should I just sew 3 strips together and that measures 5”. And then my white rail would be cut 2 x 5 and it would be a 5” square

The best way I know to make this kind of calculation is to use the free app from Robert Kaufman fabrics called Quilter’s Little Helper. You can get it on Google Play or at the Apple store.
