Fat Quarter Giveaway — 28 Neutrals from Moda Fabrics
Update: This giveaway is now closed. Thanks to everyone who entered.
Everyone Needs Neutrals
Bold colors and prints are wonderful things to have in your fabric stash, but if that’s all you use, they can be too much of a good thing. You need neutral fabrics too — calm, unobtrusive fabrics that help harmonize contrasting colors and create restful places for a viewer’s eye to dwell on your quilts.
My generous friend Ruthmary donated these 28 neutral fat quarters from Moda to bring some beautiful calm to one lucky quilter’s fabric stash. What would you do with them if you’re the winner?
How to Enter the Giveaway
To enter your name, just scroll down to the bottom of the post and leave a comment. The winner will be chosen at random from all the comments received by Monday, April 13.
Note for first-time commenters: Don’t worry if you don’t see your comment right away. All new comments go into my automatic spam filter first to make sure they come from a genuine human. That’s the sad reality of today’s Internet, I’m afraid. But rest assured, since you are a person, your comment WILL get approved and your name WILL be entered in the giveaway.

Wow, I like this website.. Just finished making over 200 masks to give away here in Minnesota.
Taking a rest for a few days to regroup and then will start in again, if needed. Thank you all for being out there and giving me the info I need to keep quilting. I am 72 1/2 and just started quilting early last fall. I am obsessed, I bought a Janome machine, with threader, oh my gosh. I am having fun.
Fat quarters are wonderful.
I have a really neat pattern that takes four squares. Cut two into triangles each. Cut the other two into four small squares. The layout is obvious. Easy to sew for me as I can use only one hand.
Having neutrals in your stash is a good thing, it was very generous of your friend Ruthmary to donate this fat quarter bundle. Thank you both very much these would be a wonderful addition to my stash. Love your site and ideas, they are inspiring.

First time visiting your blog I will be back! Thank you for all the info.
Fat Quarters. Yes,Yes, Yes.
What a great tutorial. Great sight
Thank you for your most generous offer.
Beautiful neutral fat quarters can be used in any project…especially scrappies.
I found 1/4” grosgrain ribbon from Michaels so am using ties instead of elastic which seems impossible to find. I really like your mask pattern better so that’s next. Thanks for your info and encouragement.
Trying to start this new hobby at 78 years old…so far I have collected lots of ideas.and now just to put them together………..picking colors is my weak point and hoping these will help me……..
You are such an inspiration!
Thank you for the wonderful giveaway!
Thanks for helping me keep my sanity in this terrible time.
Sewing for others by providing masks to those agencies in need is my “mental health” new norm in this trying time. I have been making masks for Masks of Mercy for the past few weeks. Over 3,000 masks have been made by many working hands in a short amount of time. Keep up the wonderful work quilters!!!
Thank you for a great blog. Excited for the giveaway!
I usually need to stop everything to find neutrals when I think I’m ready to start a new project.
Beautiful fabrics. I love quilts made with understated and light colored fabrics.
Awesome work you are doing! ❤️
Love the fabric. I am a beginner quilter and loving the joy I get when I see my daughter use her quilt I made.
I love fabric
I donate small quilts to the local hospital gift shop. The fat quarters by moda would make a very nice small quilt. The quilts are sold and the money goes toward hospital equipment.

I always buy bright and colorful fabric so having some neutrals would be nice to incorporate with my stash.
These would make great masks! Thank you for the patterns. I’ve been making a variety of masks for friends and family, and the local businesses in my small town community every day.
More fabric for making masks! Thank you for making this available!
These are beautiful neutrals that will coordinate seamlessly with a calming combination for a baby quilt. Thank you for sharing.
Fingers crossed!!
Love the neutral fabrics. So elegant nd fun to see come together.
Hi, I am wondering what pattern you are using for your masks. I have stated using one by Marfy, offered through The Cloth Engineer’s site. I’d like to try a couple from the pattern your husband is wearing. I’m not going out myself, but I have some friends who own a small business, and they want to keep working together and feeding their families. I’ll do what I can to help. I hope you have a safe and happy Easter.
Hi Lynn,
We are using a modified version of a mask pattern from SewitOnline.com. If you visit that site there’s a place to sign up to download a PDF with the pattern pieces. We made our elastic to go around the whole head instead of the ears, as she did in hers, and we are using a heavier-duty wire at the nose area. We are making almost entirely medium masks. Her Large pattern seemed too big for everyone except people with really large heads or big bushy beards or hair.
Here’s a link to the original video tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqlmDf6_hsY&t=1063s
I think she has made some updates since then.
What a cute bundle of joy!
Have a Happy Easter! And Moda Fabrics rock! Stay safe.
Such cute fabric! I would love to make a quilt for my granddaughter’s 1st birthday, coming up in June.
Thanks for the ideas you give on your site.
For one, these neutrals would fill the void in my stash. I rarely buy neutrals. My eyes always go for bright saturated solids and prints. Second, in this fat quarter bundle I see reds and blues on white which I will need when I get ready to work on a red, white and blue quilt. Thank you for the offer.
I am trying to be a self taught quilter. Moda fabrics are always welcome and beautiful. Thanks for the lessons.
This is such a strange time. A number, if not all, of my quilting friends have been making masks as have I. It seems to help give a little peace to dealing with this time by being helpful which then to me brings a more hopeful feeling. Blessings to you and your husband for helping also.
I have very few neutrals except grays and blacks, but lots of bright colors.
Keep that young of yours, he’s a keeper. Very few husbands lend a hand with their wives hobbies.
New quilter here! These neutrals would work beautifully with a Modo mini-charm pack that a friend gave to me recently. She knew I was running low on fabric as I literally just started quilting last month. Thanks for the wonderful opportunity
I do enjoy reading your emails, even have your quilting book. I think it’s wonderful that your husband is helping you with the assembly of face masks. Great that you’re giving masks to homeless.
I love all kinds of fabric….especially free ones! So many projects, so little time!
I would love the material it’s so pretty

I love the neutral colors. They can blend so well with all sorts of other fabrics and patterns. Being quarantine has really put a damper on so much I am really happy that we still have our quilting and sewing to do.
I really like the design of your face mask.
It covers the nose well and less likely to slip down.
Grandma Dot
